Our son Xavier Marcus was born at 0917 on July 24th 2009. He died at 2028 on July 24th 2009 from complications of his diaphragmatic hernia.

Xavier is coming today!!!!

Well my wife is in labour and just got her epidural thing. That was an adventure. They wouldn't even let me watch! WTF? Anyway, so today is the big day. Jodi's at 5 cm+ and woving on up. I would imagine we will be having the baby in a few hours. I will report more as it becomes available.

Back again

So I didn't write anything yesterday because my life just really isn't that exciting. I guess once Xavier shows I will be wishing for the boring run of the mill days. At least for a while I bet. I am so excited to meet him though.
Anyway. We are here at the hospital again because Jodi wanted to get checked out. Now that we live so close to the hospital o think we will be here a few more times before Xavier is actually born. I know it eases Jodi's mind and it makes my drive much shorter!
She is having a lot of pressure and all the normal stuff that comes with being 37 weeks pregnant. Xavier hasn't been moving much today and his movements have been a little weak. Its all why Jodi wanted to come. No big deal really. My sister is with Derek at the apartment as she arrived yesterday. After a eventful day to LAX, Palm Springs, and back to Loma Linda, Carrie and I had a pretty good day.
So, we shall see what the good ol' doctor has to say but I would guess we will be going home tonight.

First Post

Well, this is my very first blog on this thing so it might be long or short. Who knows. I am creating this to update all my family and friends as to the status of Jodi, Derek and Xavier. A lot of things have happened since we found out about Xavier's CDH a little over 19 weeks ago. I think I have kept in contact with people enough that I can just start from here and carry on till the end. Whenever that will be. Yesterday we had an appointment at Loma Linda and they really wanted us to stay close to the hospital. They did not like the 2 hour drive we had to make from our house to the hospital. So through some outstanding people at the hospital and one WONDERFUL family, we have a place to stay in Redlands, CA. The organization providing us housing is called Steven's Hope. They gave us a fully furnished apartment just 3 miles from the hospital. It is not free but the rate is unreal. This organization is based out of Upland, CA and is funded solely off donations. I highly encourage you all to look this place up and see all the wonderful things they do for families like ours.

My sister is arriving tomorrow and I will be going to pick her up in the morning. Jodi's mother is still in town but will be returning home on Saturday. Jodi is doing really well considering all that is going on. She's a tough girl. She is still having contractions and they are supposedly getting more painful. She takes it like a champ and she is really happy that we are closer to the hospital now. Today she has been felling a little sick to her stomach and the contractions make it worse. Her contractions are not in any kind of pattern or anything but the doctor said Xavier is at -3 and she is close to 4cm dilated. Basically, any day now.

We are taking things day by day and I will be sure to update this blog for all of you as things begin to progress. Feel free to contact me through any channel in which you normally communicate with me. If you all are interested there is another group that I recommend. I really have gotten into all this lately and I really hope some of you will check this site out if you haven't already.

This is another donation funded organization and it is a fantastic place to get information and I have found tons of comfort with the families that belong to this outstanding group. Thank you all for everything you have done for my family.
